This is my very favorite couple ever to be on the series, the only slash relationship that I find so obvious to be canon. So many looks, so many subtle innuendos and unsaid explanations, it's the missing link in their story.

Wes and Eric went to prep school together before the series, in Wes' words not "exactly friends", but they meant enough to each other that a few years later their feelings-- Wes' pain and Eric's bitterness-- are still extremely strong.

Throughout the series they share many moments together, as slowly Wes gets under Eric's skin, and into his heart. When the final battle comes, the two of them are left alone. It's unsaid what goes on in the hours we miss that night, after Wes saves Eric's life, but whatever it was it seemed to have an effect. And not long after, Eric repays Wes in full when he takes a blast meant for him, then gives him his morpher, and his trust. Wes doesn't let him down, and a final look at the morpher before running off to fight assures us of who was in his thoughts.

Wes and Eric become partners in the Silver Guardians after the other rangers return to the future, and we see them a year later still together. Their relationship has softened into something else, though not clear exactly what. Although Wes teases Eric about Taylor, and Eric watches him with Jen happily, neither one seems entirely devoted to the ideas. Maybe it was because they already had something better, but maybe it was just longing for the love that once was, and then was lost.
